It would not be much of a loss if Microsoft decided to pull the plug. Don't think they haven't taught about it. A three percent market share or 19 million desktop users does not even come close to the numbers that still use Windows 2000, never mind Windows 98. I of course don't wish this to happen, but it is one logical outcome.
Maybe so, but there are millions of Mac being sold every year, and there will always be percentage of these users who are perfectly willing to buy Virtual PC, Mac Office, Windows XP, and eventually Windows Vista when it's released, to use on their Mac's. Remember, that's a lot of money, and would Microsoft really not want to have their share of the pie?

This has not really been the case, though. When VHS was replaced by DVD, you didn't get the new media for free. Being locked into a particular platform occurs all the time--toner cartridges for printers aren't standardized, for example. I can't use Comcast's on demand to buy programs, then switch to DirecTV and have them transferred. When I buy the latest video game, it doesn't come packaged with PS2, PC, Mac, and XBOX versions.
See the theme? If you choose a limited hardware platform, you must accept the constraints of that platform. CDs are universal because the standard was universal (Sony, Philips, etc. formed a consortium from the get-go)--multiple manufacturers make CD players. Here, the content is the same but the packaging is different--cassette, CD, M4A. Only Apple makes M4A players.
By purchasing a song from iTunes, you are receiving the file with limitations. The reason for the price is bundling. If you want a product with no restrictions, which you want to use to the fullest extent of fair use (or beyond, if you so choose), you have to look elsewhere. You're not being denied fair use when you rent a movie on VHS for $2 when the DVD rental is $4...and you don't get to rent the VHS, then make a DVD just to save $2. Likewise, you're not paying for an unrestricted copy of the song on iTunes, and you aren't entitled to treat it as such using "fair use" as an excuse.
If you want unencumbered music, pay for the CD. If you want instant gratification and a lower price, then be an adult and accept the DRM. The option you want is out there and legally available--it's just that CDs are a "bad value." Likewise, iTunes tracks are probably a "bad value" to many people who think 99 cents should entitle them to DRM-free files. Should DRMed digital files be cheaper? I think so. But that's no excuse to go beyond the clear and publicized terms of my payment.
Nobody wants to buy things twice, but that's no excuse. I have piles of spare tools that fit cars I no longer own; toner cartridges for printers I no longer own; memory cards for cameras I no longer own; and floppy disks for computers I no longer own. Each time I switch companies, I have to deal with the consequences of my prior purchases.
Bravo Bravo Bravo my friend!;)

Dare I post what at some level we all know....
It is about status and fame......
It is about attention seeking, and having "followers".....
Let's get real, and acknowledge, that if Cydia and other programs were working, it could have been released.... Not every program 'works' on my iPad either, nor does every program work on my iPhone! Either that video was fake, or simply put their is no desire to release the program! Be man enough to own up to your choices. We don't have a right to expect them to release a program..... We don't have a right to demand that they do.... My world does not evolve around the release of that program....
Life actually does go on.....
Enjoy it.
Don't choose to spend it wishing it away....
Life is too short!

Upgrading RAM is quite easy. I don't know about PNY branded RAM, but I have heard good things of Crucial and Kingston RAM, I myself use CnMemory RAM in my 2009 MBP.

The device in question is:
My jailbroken iPod Touch 4g running 4.2.1 and jailbroken with redsn0w 0.9.6b4 (Tethered of course)
When I first jailbroke it, it all worked perfectly and the computer could detect it. Now though I 'm using a new netbook for the first time. I know the computer must know some hardware is plugged in because when I plug it in and out Windows makes the usual "Device found/unplugged" sound. But I cannot find my iPod in /Computer and iTunes doesn't detect a thing however it does detect my sisters Shuffle. It won't charge either. The last time I synced it was at a friends house. He kindly let me Boot Tethered with redsn0w because I had just been on a flight and had to turn it off. It all worked well that time.
Forget about me using my previous computer, I no longer have that one. I would restore but the problem is I have photos I really don't want to lose in camera roll...and since the computer can't detect it I can't transfer them to the netbook. The only things that I have changed since my stop at my friends house are:
A case and screen protector
Some stuff downloaded from cydia
I really think it's the computers problem but I don't have any leads on that. Thanks for any help guys...I really appreciate it :)

my 3GS is having more and more issues. battery life goes down, touchscreen is getting less responsive/less precise. I hope it holds up for a while.
If not I can get either:
- the rumored white iPhone 4 end of April
- the rumored iPhone 5 end of September
- the rumored iPhone 6 in 2012
I am getting very tired of these analysts and their predictions. Oh, this just in......
iPhone 7 due in 2013... That is, of course, if the rumor of the end of the world in 2012 doesn't pan out!

Another thing Apple should do in a redesigned ACD is to get rid of the external brick power supply. I think ACDs are the only LCDs out that are not only quite thick, but still have a hefty external brick power supply. :(
A built-in iSight and an extra DVI or two port would be nice too as mentioned.

The market has usually factored in this growth into the stock price but this by be enough to keep the rally going. Six $Billion in profit - Nice!

I've recently noticed that the download speed for Apple updates is much lower than what I've used to get in the past, which was normally an excelent performance.
As you can see below, this is not a problem related to my connection:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1192809291.png
For instance, when downloading the Java update yesterday and the iTunes update today, I got roughly 20% of my potential bandwidth...is anyone facing the same issue here in Europe or elsewhere?

You're forming a URL, so the URL needs be properly encoded. For example, a space needs to be encoded as %20. But don't do this manually, use NSString's stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:

iphone cost so much in the philippines. its not a great deal
Yes it does. I just saw that Auction.ph will be auctioning iPhones at a maximum price of 5,000 pesos ($110), compared to the average retail price of 30,000 pesos, or $663.
I wonder how legitimate this is since there seems to be no profit in the auction price

I think this patent could be used for several things that aren't the iPod.
1. A universal remote for iTV and FrontRow (that would function somewhat like SallingClicker).
2. Perhaps for use in an Ultra Portable? This is such a small, niche market that I doubt Apple getting involved in it at this time, but I would think that holding a machine with both hands and using your thumbs on the bezel instead of a joystick could be great. It would be faster and more convienient than a touch screen.*
3. New touch-sensitive bezel on iPod shuffle. Ok, that is just ridiculous. I said several above and I didn't want to change that to 2.*

So I am using redsn0w and I checked install Cydia and change my baseband to iPad for the unlock but as I follow the directions on iClarified, I get to holding down the home button and then it says "fetching iPad firmware" and then it ends. Any idea why that is?
Did you download Ipad 1 firmware 3.2.2 onto your PC?
