Just a quick question: would this e-book feature be able to see images embedded in the e-book? or just text?
I surely hope so, comics and manga would be a huge hit especially in Japan.
The next big thing can be games via iTunes, talk about a controllable environment for the publishers.

I'm not holding my breath on the Top secret features...it could have been a joke.
ALTHOUGH, Tiger included some features that were so top secret--like the exclusive dotMac widgets--that Apple couldn't even include them in the final release, so you never know! ;)

I'm confused. Are iPad 2s in short supply or not? If they cannot be found at multiple Apple stores, why is Apple broadening distribution to Toys R us?
As someone else mentioned it broadens their supply chain and availablity when they are able to fill the channels with product. The iPad2 is selling faster than anticipated and faster than they can make them. They likely had a contract from the get go to bring Toys R Us into the supply chain at this time long before the iPad 2 was launched. They expected more supply at that time and wanted to broaden their exposure. Since they are partnering with Toys R Us, they don't just say, "Ah tough luck. We are selling them too fast, so we know we agreed to have you be able to sell them, but whatcha going to do." That is not how you treat business partners.
So they open up the channels and let it go. It is not like a national retailer puts a new product on the shelf, especially one like this, with 3 days notice. It takes time for them to get them into their system and their own distribution channels. Not to mention advertising and promotion and the rest.
Broadening distribution -- whether new territories or new outlets in established territories -- usually follows a slow down in sales growth.
Exactly, but you have to plan ahead for such things. Apple figured by now they would have enough excess supply to fill those channels. Sales have been better than anticipated.

bad news. I better tell my girlfriend. How many macbooks does this affect? All of them?
None, it would seem.

I am picturing you steering right to go down a list, left to go up and honking each time you want to middle button. :)
Now that would be fun. :D On the back of the steering wheeling in my Jeep there are buttons for volume +/-, station +/-, seek and input select. The adapter I bought plugs into the factory radio's wiring harness and makes the stereo think it has a CD changer pulgged in. The seek button cycles through play lists while the station +/- lets you change tracks. It is pretty nifty.
My HD based iPods that failed from too much time on the back of a motorcycle didn't show signs of failing. They just farted out and unhappy faced me out of the blue.
The first time mine did that it took me about a week of fiddling with it before I was able to get the drive reformated.
You know, it's like the headphones with remote and mic w/ volume controls never happened to half you folk. After a very short and easy learning curve, it's even easier to interact for basic functions than the wheel. One of the projects that's on my list of to-dos before my South American ride is to rig a control scheme.
True, but I already had the iPod Video with real buttons and the BT adapter I was using was only a transmitter. Sure I could make the transition to the touch. I was just pointing out that buttons weren't useless. ;)
As for your trip, you don't need to rig anythig up. I have a Belkin SportCommand (http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/belkin-sportcommand-fabric-remote-for-ipod/) that works great on the bike. I just strap it to my left thigh and have full control over the iPod stuffed in a bag. Just drop your hand down to the control and you don't even have to take your eyes off the road.
Unfortunately I was just looking and they may not make it any longer. There are other, similar, solutions out there.

Almost all developers live in a world where they code to specs and standards. Their code is then reviewed by other developers, tested repeatedly and then approved for implementation.
Apple's model isn't different from what most companies do internally.
I don't mind Facebook - but the iPhone app is terrible.
It is always crashing and never shows my friends list properly.
Seems to me - he could have used some help and should have focused on defect repair and not on the process of approval.

My 2 cents: The MacBook are definitely going to be updated this month. Most likely tomorrow. Why do I think this? AppleInsider has reliable sources, they have never completely been wrong. The MacBooks will get Core 2 Duos (1.83, 2.0, 2.16), 802.11n cards, and possibly hard drive & RAM increase. Realistically we won't be getting a dedicated graphics card, bigger screens, or firewire 800.
Enjoying my Core 2 Duo MBP.

I really hope the update is this Tuesday--I'll get out of lectures with my credit card in hand, ready to purchase. It can't come a minute too soon, as I really don't know how much longer my iBook has to last (bad noises, grinding, hanging, random shut downs...).

I don't know why you would expect them to not also sell its big brother, the hottest toy / gadget to be found? It's for kids, you know?
I thought Toys R Us sold cheap plastic toys for kids. I'm obviously mistaken.

Every manufacturer and their mother has announced Core 2 Duo portables, and most of them consumer models too. Sheesh, I mean there are Core 2 Duo tablets, if they can do that, Apple can do bloody MacBooks.
Yep, ANNOUNCED. But most of them still aren't shipping for a few days. Apple can still wait a bit to announce merom MBP and STILL beat most of the pc's to market.

The iPad, no matter how parasitic it is, is still a real computer.
And wow at all the people "finding problems" with OTA updates. Android has been at it for years on many carriers and with many different data caps in place, rooted phones, phones with custom ROMs, etc.. and yet none of those guys whine about OTA updates. The Apple crowd really needs to get with it. It's optional people, it is for Android, no reason it wouldn't be for iPhone.
Options are good.
How can it be a real computer and you cant even turn it on without syncing it to a real computer? So basically to buy an ipad you have to own another $500 piece of hardware to use an ipad. I love my ipad and it has basically replaced my laptops, but its a shame that you cant manage your music, sync your apps or update your OS without being connected to a real computer.

Where did you get that chair. If you have the link please link it in here. I know many people would like one.
I got it from Ikea. Here is the link to the UK Ikea site:
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20103101
Not sure if it is available internationally but I can't see any reason why not.
It's a really nice chair and I especially like the excellent lumbar support and useful headrest (I'm 5ft10 so YMMV). The breathable backrest is also good to avoid a sweaty back if sitting for a while.
Edit: Just checked, the Orlando Ikea store has 15 of these chairs in stock at $199 each. :)

I have the feeling a bunch of knuckleheads are going to stick a post-it with a clever one-liner on their iPad 2's and return them with the hope of a free iPad2.

This might be silly, but there is nothing particularly 'Apple' about that sign. Other than the beautiful white typeface against black canvas, of course. As people have pointed out, it isn't Myriad set. Why would Apple change their font for one banner? Do they do this regularly?
Isn't it possible that this sign belongs to another company showcasing software etc at Macworld? Doesn't Apple normally have some sort of branding on their banners?
Excuse the ignorance if I have no idea.

OMG!!! $400 !?!?!?!?!?!?!
Now that I am done doing that. The only thing I don't like about people saying you can wait the OS out is that I don't think Apple makes security fixes to those OSes one the newer one comes out. Am I wrong?

I know what you mean, all those restrictions and regulations prohibiting the dumping of chemicals in the rivers and poison gasses into the air or killing endangered animals. And the worst is that one about not being able to use slaves. And having to pay for medical costs it someone is injured. So his hand got smashed in a machine, why can't I just fire him for it?

What's fairly obvious is that if ordinary people were in a position to make decisions concerning their community/country/state they would make a far better job than the "expert" economists, legislators, businesspeople and so on who do very well by making a complete balls up of the lives of people in individual countries.
(-885 billion and 112.5% of SS deficit solved)
I think the professionals are better educated to make those decisions than we are. It's just one of those things that's easier said than done.
For me, among other things I'd raise taxes on the rich, cut military by killing expensive but marginal projects like experimental weaponry, temporarily lower funding for technological research related projects for NASA and Green tech. Just from that, I'd have the wealthy, Republicans, the military-industrial complex, scientists, and environmentalists all trying to gut my budget proposal. The political realities outweigh the fact it looks simple on paper.
