I didn't try on a pc. The new one should arrive soon. It will be interesting to see if it's the drive or the firmware.

iPod killer... yeah, right.
Why is M$ even competing against Apple? They should be bold enough to create the playing field... like they always did... wait...

Just ordered a refurbished 11 inch MBA (1.6 C2D/4gb) and a portable 1TB external hdd for my upcoming deployment to Afghanistan. I'll be lugging around enough gear as it is, so my 2.5 year old heavy MBP is going on Ebay!

We use Glyph drives at the (university) recording studio where I work, and they've been fantastic. They're the hot-swappable models (these drives (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GTKey500-8/)), but I've heard good things about all of their products. You'll find lots of specific models if you poke around Sweetwater's site.

There were several stories on that a while back. (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=google+dns+slow+apple+downloads&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8)Don't recall the outcome.
FWIW, I'm on OpenDNS and I just installed Tiger from scratch on 2 machines and downloads were very fast.

I dunno; the way these articles make it sound, people had to buy their iPods because they already had large iTunes accounts, and it was the only way to listen to their music. But of course it was the other way around, that the store was the result of the iPod. I suppose it would be nice to have the option to put my purchased iTunes mp3s on a different player (although I don't see myself doing it), but I agree with everyone about the integration and ease of use keeping the iTunes market strong. And unless other mp3 players can be easily synched with your iTunes playlists and music, the whole DRM thing seems pretty moot to me. The iPod is iConic (couldn't help myself :p ); it'll take a lot of great word of mouth and aggressive marketing by other companies to even take a real bite out of Apple.;)

Does Push still work?
Is it still unlocked after restore?
What to do if one needs an exchange?
Yes, this wouldn't affect Push at all. It's not like jailbreaking. As for an exchange... I assume if you told them that you had a factory unlocked phone, they would check the IMEI information and unlock the replacement phone for you in the store.

Right, that's why Android has taken over the #1 spot in the mobile space
Irrelevant. Just because Android is the lowest common denominator doesn't make it better. Nor does it mean that Apple aren't going to carry on making huge profits. Consider the case of OSX/Windows if you need help understanding this.
and why there are threads with thousands of people asking daily for jailbreak updates? lol
So there are thousands of people who stupidly didn't do their research and bought the wrong product. Compare that to the millions of satisfied customers who don't spend all day whining on the internet.

what would be the security problem?
If Bluetooth is set to listen during sleep on a laptop, for example, thieves can use Bluetooth phones and other devices to detect nice laptops/phones to steal from car parks and the like. Also leaving it on and 'discoverable' could make your private data vulnerable.

Rock on, I just downloaded that app. The advice I posted was intended to be platform independent, because not everyone is as lucky as us to be rockin' macs ;)
What are you talking about? Download an app? All that site does is encode your email address and gives you a javascript decoder. It has nothing to do with what platform you are on.

This is available again. My last seller bailed out on me. I just upgraded to the 16GB phone by swapping SIMs, and the 8GB iPhone is currently in a like brand new state. When you hit the sleep/wake button it gives you that "connect to iTunes" symbol, and when you plug it into iTunes, the screen comes up saying "Let's get started" and you can set up your service with AT&T. The phone has the brand new SIM that came in the 16GB iPhone.
Ask me any questions you have. I'm selling it for $350 + shipping.

I went to John Lewis' today to look at the Apple Cinema Displays (I've always thought I'd prefer a glossy display like my HP 22"), but I was suprised at how much more accurate the colour was on the ACD in comparison to the 24" iMac.
I couldn't tell which one had a nicer picture as they were both locked onto the Mac login screen but, after seeing them, I must admit, I like the Matte more than the glossy I think.
