If you do not inform USCIS there is considerable risk you will be taking if your I-140 gets revoked and subsequent RFE do not get into your hands in time.
You will have to write a simple letter stating your intent to change employer and support it with your offer letter and pending I-485 receipt. Usually, the offer letters from employers don't go into details of job duties in such cases you'll get a RFE to obtain a letter from your current employer stating your job duties. You can respond to that RFE and be rest assured that it will go into USCIS system and forget worrying about I-140 revocation for rest of your life or for that matter changing employers.
If you think your lawyer can play foul with your green card prospects. This is the right time to submit AC21 with a new G-28 so the new lawyer will get all future correspondence from USCIS otherwise you'll have to go through whole lot of trouble to get a copy of the RFE and respond to it on time.

Hope things will work out good. the disaappearence of H1B memo from USCIS policy website itself is a good sign, let them announce formally also that they have withdrawn that memo.

Finally USCIS is acting with some sense in them. They did not think through when they were complying with Sen. Grassley. Their minds were so concentrated in getting the IT industry that they did not realize the back lash will come from all H1Bs, from all sectors including doctors and nurses; and most importantly these people do not have any clue of the present day business models, so they got hammered by businesses too, plus AILA took it on its legality.

Obviously using approved labor (or substitute labor) is a shady practice and many desi consulting companies are employing this scam. If they don't share this info with you, you can either:
1) Continue working with this company in the hope they are doing everything by the book and this will all work out
OR
2) Go work for a bonfide employer

What will happen to people who already made the move hoping to preserve their priority date from previous employer? Isn't this unfair to these folks. Do you think they may be exempt from this? I wish at least.

I am not sure about six months ... That is only when you file 485 and want to use AC21 to continue your GC process.
Once your I-140 is approved, then you lock the PD from that moment itself.
I140 + 6 months = Change your employer, file new PERM & then new I140 but you get to keep your old PD from old PERM. Is it not the case ?

Both of the following are about 500KB, so beforewarned...
I put a smaller beetle macro into the front-page gallery area, but here's a couple others.
1 Upclose and personal with a dandelion.
2. The same lens, used conventionally for a landscape. I printed this out at 19x13 and it's going to get framed.
Nice shots.......... I like the close ups with Macro, and also the landscapes with the old buildings overrun with ivy
