Manufacturing requires a lot of labor too.Sorry to burst your bubble again, but not all manufacturing requires a lot of labor. Painting all manufacturing processes with a broad brush is disingenuous. I've seen my share of robotic assembly lines, and as far as I'm aware, robots are not labor.

Ditto. I watch movies on my 5G when traveling, I may have to use a power adapter , but the result is not bad. Half of enjoying a movie is great sound and the Ipod gets it done. I would like a bigger screen on the next version, but I would much rather see a battery that can handle 6 hours of video without a recharge.

Well, just accentuates the fact that the UK isn't run by a bunch of idiots. Knowing France well, it's appalling the figures being shown there. The french government is a joke, somewhat corrupt and is just a poorly governed country. It seems to me the good people suffer whilst the bad people get away with it, truly despicable.
I know they hospitalise children under 18 for mental illness, the UK doesn't do that and I don't know any other nation which does that. SURELY It's ridiculous for people who aren't even adults to be in mental institutes for weeks and even months? Won't that in fact affect their mental stability by being with other Ill patients?

Haha! Everyone waited for this update and it's so lame. Core 2 Duo is nice, but I'm certainly glad I bought my r1 MB :D

I wish I lived closer to Apple, to be able to get sneak previews like this, and to be able to report on Apple News. One day I will prevail!
BTW, I cant wait for monday! Does anyone know what time the Keynote will be in Grenwich Mean Time (London). Just so I can log on and keep up with all the action.

Let's see, before Apple, there was no useful mobile app market.
Now Apple sells more mobile apps than all the competitors such as Microsoft, Symbian, etc. combined.
Apple must be doing something right.
However, to expedite the process and provide more feedback, Apple probably needs hire more people / change the submission structure (no unlimited submission), probably both.
Keep in mind the whole Apple iTunes mobile app market is fairly new but growing very quickly. Thus that department seems to be facing a classic, but difficult business problem of managing exponential growth.

I just bought a Macbook Pro literally 5 minutes ago. I've been waiting for months and I finally gave up. After the order was completed, I thought I'd check macrumors just for laughs and the first thing I saw was, "new macbook pros tomorrow?" :(
"Giving up" does not mean buying outdated technology for top dollar. If you were truly giving up on waiting, you should have also given up on Apple -- who did not value your interest enough to give you either a discount or some indication as to when updates would be released.

Are you kidding? Netflix destroyed it with streaming. Disney and Sony aren't even advertising for it anymore. The Blu Ray players are being sold dirt cheap at clearance sales because it's a dying/dead format.
And I never liked it anyway, the 25 GB disc wasn't filled all the way because of the stupidly lossy compression, and it was expensive.
Maybe, but up here in Canada we have to pay through the roof for bandwidth so Netflix is kind of lame. I don't think all the players are being sold that cheap there are just more companies making cheap ones for the masses. I personally like Blu Ray for the quality that Netflix can't offer.
However, I could be wrong does Netflix deliver 1080P?

This is for developers, they come to see what kind of software they need to develop. They don't really care for hardware, and they don't pay this much just to see the announcement of the iPhone, something they could have seen online or just read about. This is all about discussing what Apple wants developers to do in their programming.

Plenty of people buy Macs for the hardware. If I needed a laptop right now to run Windows and nothing else, then obviously I would have to check whether I am mentally capable of using Windows for any length of time without throwing the laptop out of the window, but once I've found the strength to do that, the 13" MBP or one of the MBAs are probably the least miserable way to run Windows.
Of course, if you are praying every day that your laptop breaks down because you have to use Windows, then a MacBook is not for you.
Even the reviewers have acknowledge that Windows runs better on Mac hardware due to the tight coupling between the hardware and the device drivers that Apple includes.

i havent had any random shut downs on my blackbook or even had it that hot. i do use smc fan control and leave it at 3303 rpm keeps it at about 52-54
