All right then, here we are.

This better be good. Or back to AVID, or on to Premiere.

You know, Sony and Nintendo are just *SO* behind the curve with next gen gaming systems.

Microsoft has had it's XBox 360 out for MONTHS, while Sony and Nintendo gamers are lagging behind, barely able to function on their PS2s and GameCubes.

If Sony and Nintendo don't release the PS3 and Wii, respectively, in the next week, they'll be the laughing stocks of the industry. There's no excuse for them to release their next gen gaming systems a year after their competitor.

I'm going to hold my breath until I turn blue if I don't get what I want, because I'm childish like that.

There's a difference between simply dropping the same chip into a computer that everyone else is using, and creating groud-up proprietary hardware designed to run proprietary software. IMO, the video game business isn't a good analogy.

correct. wasn't sure how long it would take for people in general to get up in arms about location privacy on the idevices... what did people think was going to happen??

such it is, our electronic tethers are really leashes.

It's not very accurate information apparently. I would like to know just how accurate this location tracking is before I get too excited.

    I have a question.

If Kentsfield is a relation of the Conroe part (ie. Core 2 Duo) then will it be capable of being configured in a pair to create a "octo" core machine?

Surely that will require a Xeon class processor (like a quad version of the Woodcrest)?

edit: quad version of Woodcrest is Clovertown.

I do not intend to be rude, but there is a difference in HDMI cables, no matter what the Internet tells you. Conductors, shielding materials/layers and the way the connectors are put together are a few differentiators. An AudioQuest Coffee cable, for example, which is several hundred dollars ($600 I believe for a 1.5m) is made of pure silver starting with the tips and going the length of the cable. This is not the same as a no name $5 dollar HDMI cable from Amazon.

And how does this relate to the over-priced cables pushed in best buy? Do you think those rocketfish and dynex (aka house brand) cables they push are better than a MonoPrice cable? I've not used an AmazonEssentials cable before--it is probably good--but you are probably thinking of 3rd party sellers on amazon selling cheap china crap.

There is a market for AudioQuest, but in general, it is not the mfgr that is referred to when satirically commenting about best buy's hdmi (and other) cables.

Hear we go again, who ever filed the law suit, get a life. Lifes not all about trying to make money out of others, enjoy the product for what it is. And not from what you can make out of it!, and if your worried about being tracked, then you must be doing something wrong!!!!

CrunchGear reports (http://www.crunchgear.com/2011/04/07/rumor-ipad-2-mishandling-gets-best-buy-blacklisted-by-apple/) that BestBuy may have stepped into some trouble with Apple due its handling of iPad 2 sales:A reader who works at Best Buy just told us that theres been a bit of a misunderstanding between the electronics retailer and Apple. Apparently, Best Buy was holding off on selling the iPad 2s it had in stock, telling customers there werent any when in fact they had just reached their quota of sales for the day.According to CrunchGear, Tim Cook is involved in ongoing negotiations about the issue. Meanwhile TUAW posts (http://www.tuaw.com/2011/04/07/rumor-apple-no-longer-allows-best-buy-to-sell-the-ipad-2/) a very similar account from another anonymous tipster: He claims that until further notice, the mammoth electronics retailer has had all stock except demo units pulled.

If we're already paying a royalty on blank CD-Rs because they say we are using Limewire, then aren't those of who aren't using Limewire essentially paying to use a service which we are not using?

By my logic, if we are already compensating the music industry through our purchases, we should then be entitled to use the services I just found out from these posts that we are paying for!

well im a little stuck. my zonda r isnt fast enough for a lot of the top races, and the newly appointed online dealership has nice cars, but it doesnt rotate between them. so im really waiting for a nice car to come up in the used garage. either that or ill have to save up like 4M for a dealership car

Zonda R is one of the better cars in the game. It will win any race you enter with it if you are able to drive. Add some downforce and lower the throttle sensitivity and it's a little easier to handle.

If this phone would affect Nano sales, do you think that could be the reason Apple is giving them away with MacBook and MacBookPro sales? Trying to get rid of extra stock before the iPhone is released?

    just a thought

What I gather would really make the iPhone something special:
    ...
    5. Works as a front row remote.

That would require a built in IR as well as that standard BT. Of course, unless Apple let you run front row via the BT.

    YES!!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyqUj3PGHv4)

Did you see the Conan version.

I hope the next release of FCS integrates the different apps within the suite under a single UI.

I don't have an issue with the apps being separate but I do agree that a more common UI would be nice.

And I too hope to see the rest of Shake return in some form or another.

The speculation is that REDRay will be used for everything from 4K DCP playback in movie theaters to a download/streaming version that will be usable for buying up to 4K movies through iTunes.

if this means we could get HD itunes that are actually blu-ray quality without it being 50 GB I'm all for it.

I hope they ship it on DVD as i'm not going to tie up my Internet connection for 3 hrs while it downloads:(

Agreed. If not DVDs then a flash drive like they did the restore stuff for the Airs

I doubt Apple will ship a new version of FCP before they ship lion,

folks said the same thing about FCS3 and Snow Leopard and yet as I recall that is exactly what they did.

Ugh. Final Cut is fine the way it is for now... We need iWeb overhaul!! Make it more search engine friendly, none of the text as an image crap. grrr...

Final Cut is fine but it could be much better. Both full studios in fact could be much much better in a number of ways

That said, there are rumors about iWeb being revamped which is why it wasn't updated in iLife 11. And about the release of an iweb for ipad app. So you might get your wish

I'm glad rosetta is going away. Maybe the dev will finally update the app.

Let the Apple fanboys begin patting each other on the back, and taking something and running wild with it.

By the end of this thread, it'll be impossible to decipher what the original story was about.

Why does everyone start with the "Apple Fanboy!" BS? Its not necessary. You realize this is MacRumors right where if you say something nice about Apple you're a fanboy but you can insult Apple all day and be labeled as giving a fair opinion.

I got a prize car for getting all golds in Beginner and Amateur categories. I dont remember what it was, but i recall that when i got my last gold in each bracket they gave me a car for completing the whole thing.

I've started rally a bit today while i save up for a car with a bit more balls. Rally is completely sublime. I am loving every second of it. I had no problem with the dirt and snow tracks, but the tarmac rally is giving me some trouble. I use an 06 Focus ST that is around 215hp, so i can bump up the HP and still compete in the series. I might just have to do that.

Anyone else call BS on that whole article?

First, off: Its poorly written. As soon as I saw the "The Apple fan-boys out there will say that..."

Really? Speculation on what Apple "fanyboys" will say? Sounds like Engadget forums.

Second: Didn't ANYONE realize this is all rumor and speculation? Not fact?

I used to come to Macrumors to read about Mac news, but now its all anit-apple crap.

I was impressed w/ the new iChat features. It will really help me troubleshoot w/ my mom, who is less-than-tech-savy. I'm a good two hours away from her when I'm up at school, so it'll be nice to be able to show her stuff. Plus with the new backgrounds she won't be able to see how filthy my apartment is :D .

Time machine was cool looking, although I'm not sure how often I'll truly use it.

The other thing that popped out at me (after just glancing at the website) was the really cool core animation vid they had up. That would be an amazing screen-saver, I hope they add that in to Leopard for impressing my PC friends. I'm still not sure what the potential uses are for developers are, other than eye candy. I haven't seen many apps that take advantage of core video yet so i wonder how useful this will be to developers. I'd love to hear what you all think about core animation and if it will have any utility.

I hope that the MacBook with Core 2 Duo is better than the Core Duo version :)
I think it's neither worse or better. Tests showed only a slight bump in speed and reduction in energy consumption. At least it's the best 64-bit Intel mobile processor we got until the next one comes in April/May.
